More International Signings

The Pirates found a pitcher from Lithuania, Dovydas Neverauskas that they signed to a minor league contract as well as Australian catcher Dylan Child.  That will leave an interesting mix of international players to add to their Indian stars on the Brandenton minor league club.  Dovydas is 6′3″ and Child is a converted shortstop.  For the brief story go here: http://community.post-gazette.com/blogs/pbc/archive/2009/07/11/pirates-sign-lithuanian-australian.aspx

The Pirates now have players from India, South Africa, the North Pole, Australia, Lithuania and the traditional areas such as the Dominican Republic.  To check out an interesting article on this go here: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/09191/983022-63.stm.  The Pirates will change their theme song from “We are Family” to “We are the World”.

The Twins also got in the mix, as http://www.mister-baseball.com/rehacek-neverauskas-latest-european-signings-mlb-clubs/ reports that the Twins have signed Czech pitcher Jan Rehacek.
