Yamai Gets a No Hitter for Dragons

No hitters are rare in Japan.  They seem to occur more frequently in the major leagues.  A couple days ago the Marines Takuya Furuya was one out away from throwing a no hitter.  Yesterday the Dragons Daisuke Yamai completed his.  He walked four batters, two in the fourth inning so it was not a perfect game.

It was also a lopsided game with the Dragons erupting for seven runs in the first inning to beat the Yokahama Bay Stars 9-0.  Hector Luna and Kazuhiro Wada each lashed out three hits.  The first six hitters got on base against the Bay Stars Shoichi Ino.  He still worked six innings before his departure.

The NPB now has seventy seven no hitters.  You can read the box score and the play by play here: http://yakyubaka.com/2013/06/28/chunichi-dragons-vs-yokohama-bay-stars-june-28-2013/#more-103595
