Bears One Win Away From KBO Championship

The Doosan Bears defeated the Samsung Lions 2-1 to move within one game of the KBO championship.  No team in the history of the KBO has won the championship after finishing fourth during the regular season.

The Bears struck quickly, scoring two in the first inning on a Young-soo Bae RBI double and a sacrifice fly from Eui-Ji YangJae-Woo Lee threw five shutout innings, giving up only two hits to allow the early lead to stand up.  He turned it over to the bullpen to close out the last four innings.

The bullpen, especially Derek Hankins who pitched two plus innings of shutout relief, did well until the ninth inning when they loaded the bases with just one out.  Rookie shortstop Jeong Hyeon hit a sacrifice fly to end the shutout.  With the winning run on second Jae-hun Chung was able to get a ground out to end the game.

Woo-Chan Cha kept the Lions in the game, working six plus innings of shutout relief while only allowing three hits.
