European Championships - The Final Rounds

The top three teams from each pool travel to Brno, Czech Republic, taking their wins and losses with them against teams they played that are currently in the pool and compete to play in the finals.

Italy 6 Spain 4

Lorenzo Avagnina doubled in the eighth to break a 4-4 tie. Stefano Desimoni singled to drive in an insurance run to give Italy a two run lead. Tiago de Silva retired the side in order to pick up the save, striking out two of the three hitters he faced. Francisco Figueroa socked a two run homer in the sixth as Spain came back from a 4-0 deficit to tie the game. Italy moves to 3-0 while Spain drops to 1-2.

Czech Republic 14 France 3

The score is a little surprise. A seven run seventh inning shortened the game to seven innings. The Czech Republic powered five homers in the game, Matej Hejma and Jakub Sladek hit two homeruns apiece while Jakub Malik hit one homerun. Sladek has five homeruns for the tournament and finished the game 4 for 5 with four RBIs. Hejma drove in five runs for the Czech Republic.

Netherlands 10 Germany 4

Netherlands won their game to remain undefeated. Shawn Zarragga banged out three hits and drove in two runs in the win for Netherlands. Randoph Oduber went deep against the winless Germans. Kevin Heijstek went seven innings for Netherlands, allowing only two unearned runs.

In the second division Croatia nipped 11-10, Sweden scoring two runs in the final frame to make the game close. For the winless Swedes Magnus Pileguard ripped four hits, three of them doubles to drive in three. Great Britain improved to 2-4 with their 10-4 spanking of
