Aragua Win Puts Them in Top Spot

Both Aragua and Magallanes knocked out La Guaira and Caribes, resulting in Aragua taking over first and Magallanes in a dead heat with La Guaira and Caribes.

Aragua (8-4) 5 La Guaira (7-5) 2

Ramon Castro hit a first inning homerun and Aragua never lost the lead in their 5-2 win over La Guaira.  The win put them in sole possession of first place in the playoff round robin.  Ramon also hit a double in the third inning to drive in the second run.  Yusmeiro Petit quieted the La Guaira bats, giving up just two runs and six hits in five plus innings.  Eduardo Sanchez retired one hitter in the eighth and then retired the Tiburones in order in the ninth to pick up the save.

Magallanes (7-5) 6 Caribes (7-5) 4

Adonis Garcia drove in three runs with a triple in the fourth to break a Caribes 2-1 lead and provide the difference in Magallanes 6-4 win over Caribes.  Jean Machi picked up the save despite putting the first two runners on in the ninth inning.
