Fuentes Puts Santurce One Win Away from Puerto Rican Championship

Reymond Fuentes slipped a single into right field to score Jose Lozada with the game winner in a 4-3 13 inning win over Mayaguez. They now lead the series three games to two. Mayaguez had scored all three of their runs in the first two innings. In the last 11 innings the Crabber pitching staff would hold the Indios to just two hits, throwing a no hitter through nine innings at one point.

Trailing 3-1 the Crabbers rallied for two runs in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game. Reymond Fuentes started the inning with a double. Fuentes drove in the first run in the fifth inning with a single. After a change in pitchers Neftali Soto crushed a double off Kanekoa Texeira to pull the Crabbers to within one. With two outs Jose Lozada tied the game with an RBI single to right to score Soto.

Fuentes finished the day with four hits. Blake Tekotte collected three of the five hits for the Indios. The Santurce bullpen did not allow a hit to Mayaguez for eight consecutive innings. They allowed their first hit to Mayaguez in the top of the 13th. Mayaguez did not get a hit off Santurce starter Dicky Gonzalez in his last inning of work in the fourth inning, so the Crabbers completed a nine inning no hitter within this 13 inning game.
