WBC Australian Qaulifier - Philippines Roster

Below is the roster of the Philippines, who will be managed by ex-major leaguer Tim Hulett.

Catcher - Edmer Del Socorro, Brad Haynal, Alfredo Olivares
Infield - Adriane Ros Bernardo, Brady Conlan, Jennald Pareja, Angelo Songco, Matt Vance, Joshua Wong
Outfield - Chris Aguila, Eric Farris, Ferdinand Liguayan, Juan Paulo Macasaet, Jonash Ponce, Diaz Vermon
Left handed Pitchers - Ernesto Binarao, Vladimir Eguia, Devon Ramirez, Clay Rapada, Jon Jon Robles
Right handed Pitcher - J.R. Bunda, Leslie Cabiling, Taylor Garrison, Austin Haynal, Romeo Jasmin, Ryan Juarez, Ronel Peralta, Kevin Vance

It would have been a coup if the Philippines had convinced Tim Lincecum to pitch for them, but he is coming off hip surgery so they will have to be happy with ex-major leaguer Clay Rapada, who pitched in the major leagues and will retire after this tournament. Chris Aguila was once a highly touted prospect who got some major league at bats. Eric Ferris has had 10 major league at bats, his last appearance in 2012. The best current player is probably Angelo Songco, who slugged 17 homeruns for the Independent League St. Paul Saints last year which at 27 years old got him a minor league contract with the Dodgers.

They have made one appearance in a WBC qualifier finishing 1-2. They were 0-7 during World Cup competition. The Philippines did have a professional league but myworld stopped following it, or it folded. They are rated 23rd in the World in the rankings. A win would be a surprise.
