Choi Signs Record KBO Contract

Take the KBO batting leader Hyoung-Woo Choi off the free agent market. He signed with the Kia Tigers for approximately $2.12 million a year over four years, leaving the Samsung Lions. There was talk that some major league teams were interested in signing the 32 year old who won the KBO batting title with a .376 average and drove in the most runs with 144 RBIs. The leftfielder slugged 31 homeruns, the third straight season he has hit 30 or more homeruns, but it fell far short of the 40 homeruns hit by the league leaders Eric Thames and Choi Jeong to miss the triple crown. It is doubtful a major league team would match the $2 million plus the Tigers were willing to shell out for Choi.
