Otani to Have Ankle Surgery

Otani has been bothered by a sore ankle all season, limiting him to just three starts. To alleviate the injury he will have ankle surgery that will require a month to three months of rehabilitation. While he is expected to have the Nippon Ham Fighters post him to the major leagues for next season his stock keeps dropping as far as salary expectation.

Because he is under 25 his salary will be restricted by the international salary cap. Now the ankle surgery may prevent him from doing workouts until sometime after January. His talent may overcome any teams attempt to low ball him because of the surgery.
