Magallanes Earns Fourth Spot in the Venezuelan Playoffs

After losing a best of seven series to Caribes in five Magallanes got some redemption by qualifying for the Venezuelan playoffs by beating Aragua 4-1 in the wild card game. Aragua had lost to Caracas in six. Magallanes now joins Caribes, Caracas and Lara, all three winners in their best of seven series in a best of seven semi-final playoff.

Magallanes got off to a quick start, opening the game up with three singles, Jesus Valdez roping the third single to score Endy Chavez with the first run. Mario Lisson drove in Ronny Cedeno with a single to up the score to 2-0. The Navegantes would never trail after that.

Omar Bencomo fell two outs short of working five innings to get the win so Magallanes relied on their pen to silence the Tigers bats. Five different relievers shutout Aragua for the final 4.2 innings on three hits to preserve the victory. Pedro Rodriguez pitched the final inning to earn the save.
