Pirates Sign Bae for $1.2 million bonus

The Pittsburgh Pirates gave Korean shortstop Ji-Hwan Bae a $1.2 million bonus. Bae had originally signed with the Braves but major league baseball voided the deal because of contract irregularities.

Bae is a shortstop who represented Korea in the 18 and under World Cup. He would have been a first round pick in the 2017 KBO draft. Because he signed with a major league team the KBO suspended him for two years from signing with any KBO club. After the signing the Braves had compared him to a young Trea Turner.
