Oregon State Advances to Finals

Oregon State scored five runs in the third to down Mississippi State 5-2 to advance to the College World Series finals. Kevin Abel went seven innings, allowing just one run and Tyler Malone blasted a three run shot in the third to lead the charge.

Mississippi State, noted for their comebacks this year, had scored a run in the bottom of the ninth and had the bases loaded with the winning run coming to bat. He grounded out to end the game.

Oregon State now faces Arkansas for a best two out of three championship. Arkansas has never won a College World Series but played in the finals in 1979. Oregon State won back to back championships in 2006 and 2007.
