Walk Off Wins First Game for Wyverns

Perhaps not as exciting as the Dodgers/Red Sox game, but much shorter. The Nexon Heroes and the SK Wyverns battled in the semi-finals of the Korean playoffs with veteran Park Jung-Kwon, who did not even start the game and hit only .172 with two homeruns during the regular season, hit a two run walk off homerun to give the Wyverns a 10-8 win. Prior to the 2018 season Park was one of their leading sluggers. This year he was an after thought. Not anymore.

The Wyverns had taken early 5-1 and 8-3 leads. Heroes ace Jake Brigham could last only four innings, giving up five runs. Choi Jeong hit a solo shot in the first and Kim Kang-Min hit a two run blast in a four run fourth to ruin his start. Kim Sung-Hyun slugged a three run homer in the fifth off Ahn Woo-Jin.

The Heroes came roaring back in the seventh. Starter Kim Kwang-Hyun had only allowed one run in his first six innings, a solo shot from Song Seong-Moon in the fifth. In the seventh he gave up a two run homer to Song to end his night. Recent acquisition Jerry Sands then tied the game with a three run homer.

The Heroes put runners on second and third with two out in both the eighth and ninth innings but could not score. That gave Park his opportunity to hit his walk off with one out in the ninth.
