Culiacan Tomateros (21-14)

Issmael Salas 3B - Salas is their big bat with a .306 average and a team leading 5 homeruns and 23 RBIs. His last play in the United States was in 2008.

Manny Barreda RHP - The 30 year old has been lights out with a 4-0 record and 1.47 ERA in seven starts. Opponents are hitting him at a .201 clip. Manny last played for the Braves in 2017.

Casey Coleman RHP - When you play for a winner you get a lot of save opportunities. Casey has 15 saves to go with his 1.46 ERA. Opponents are hitting him at a .163 clip. Last year Casey pitched for the AAA Cubs and finished with a 6.91 ERA.

Hermosillo Naranjeros (18-17)

Francisco Peguero OF - Spraying the gaps for 9 doubles with a .376 average. His four homeruns have put his OPS at 1.005.

Jasson Atondo 3B - Not a lot of power in his bat for a corner infielder but he is hitting .375. Only 23 years old with no minor league experience.

Danny Espinosa SS/2B - Still swinging and missing with 38 whiffs in 32 games. His five homeruns are tied for first on the team but a .242 average and all those strikeouts won’t attract a lot of major league scouts.

Mazatlán Venados (18-17)

Alex Liddi 1B - The Italian slugger is hitting .319 with three homeruns and 20 RBIs. He also has 40 whiffs in 38 games. He may be searching for a job in one of the foreign leagues.

Konner Wade RHP - He sits at 5-1 with a 2.43 ERA in seven starts. Not overpowering, he last pitched in the minors in 2017.

Obregon Yaquis (18-17)

Cheslor Cuthbert 3B - He leads the team in RBIs with 23 but is only slugging .342. That was his downfall in the minor leagues - a lack of power for a corner infielder. He is hitting .228 with four homeruns.

Mexicali Aguilas (17-17)

David Harris OF - Harris is the Aguilas big bat with six homeruns and a .329 average. He leads the team in homeruns and RBIs with 25. Harris last played in High A in 2016. He is showing a little more pop in his bat in the Mexican League.

Navojoa Mayos (17-17)

Jovan Rosa 3B - Jovan leads the Mexican League in homeruns with 10. His 31 RBIs and .322 average put him in Triple Crown territory. The Puerto Rican last swung a bat in the minor leagues in 2010. He is hitting .408 against lefthanders with a 1.167 OPS.

Alonzo Harris 2B - Alonzo is on the opposite spectrum. He is hitting .325 but leads the Mexican League in stolen bases with 19. Alonzo gets on base for Jovan, allowing him to score 32 times.

Marc Flores 1B - He is only hitting .250 but his 34 walks has his OBA rise to .480.

Mochis Caneros (15-20)

Ramon Urias 2B - The Cardinals prospect is tearing up the Mexican League. In his last game he hit three homeruns and has four in his last two games to put his total number at 9, second in the league. He is also hitting .358 with 32 RBIs and 28 runs scored. His walk to whiff ratio of 31/30 is impressive. Ramon is killing lefthanded pitching with a .467 average.

Leandro Castro OF - Leandro has slugged six homeruns and is hitting .299 with a team leading 29 runs scored. His seven stolen bases in nine attempts leads the team.

Jalisco Charros (15-20)

Manny Rodriguez 2B - His 35 RBIs leads the league. Manny is hitting .297 with 8 homeruns.

Dariel Alvarez OF - Dariel is back in the outfield after having Tommy John surgery in a failed attempt to convert to the mound. The 30 year old Cuban is hitting .307 with five homeruns.

Elian Leyva RHP - The 29 year old Cuban pitched last year for the Braves in AA and AAA, mainly in relief. Elian is starting in the Mexican league and doing well (3-2, 1.99). He will not dazzle you with power but keeps the ball around the plate. In his last three starts he has only allowed two runs.
