Netherlands Premier 12 Roster

The Netherlands roster is always interesting. The fact that they can include players from Curacao on their roster always enhances their team. Myworld first saw Didi Gregorius playing for the gold medalist Dutch in Panama when they upset Cuba. They also had Xander Bogaerts in right field and Jonathan Schoop at second base.

This year the team has some ex-major leaguers in Roger Bernadina, the original Nationals shark, and Braves pitcher Jair Jurrjens. Rob Cordemans is north of 40 but he continues to pitch. He was the ace of the Netherlands staff in 2011 when they won the gold medal in Panama. Now he is usually good for five innings at the maximum. Shairon Martis is famous for throwing the only no hitter in a World Baseball Classic. The roster seems to be filled with veteran pitchers who have pitched for many years in international competition, but the offense could have trouble scoring runs.

Pitchers

Mike Bolsenbroek, Rob Cordemans, Lars Huijer, Orsen Josephina, Jair Jurrjens, Kevin Kelly, Diegomar Markwell, Shairon Martis, Jim Ploeger, Tom Stuifbergen, Juan Carlos Sulbaran, Franklin VanGurp, Orlando Yntema

Bam Bam Hensley Meulens will be managing for the Netherlands but he will have a pretty good bench coach in Andrew Jones. Hall of Famer Bert Blyleven is the pitching coach.
