Korea Cancels Pre-season Because of Coronavirus

The KBO has cancelled its 50 game pre-season scheduled for March 14-24 because of the coronavirus fears. Outside of China Korea is the country that has been impacted the most by coronavirus cases.

The regular season is supposed to start on March 28th but that could be in doubt. It would be hard to think Korea would start their season without any exhibition games to get their players and pitchers ready. An emergency meeting of the executive committee is scheduled for Tuesday to discuss potential changes to the regular season.

Korea already plans to halt the regular season in 2020 to allow their professional players to participate in the Olympics. Any further delay could result in a reduction in the number of games played during the season.

As reported yesterday, Japan has decided to play their exhibition season, but will not allow any fans to attend the games.
