Pirates Sign Taiwan Righthander

The Pittsburgh Pirates spent a lot of cheddar to sign a righthander from Taiwan. Po-Yu Chen signed for $1.25 million, one of the highest international signing bonuses for this year.

Chen pitched for the U18 Taiwan national team, working six innings of one run ball against Korea in a start and getting the final outs in the championship game against the United States while pitching in relief. He stands 6′2″ and throws a fastball in the low 90s.
