Dinos Strike First in Korean Series

Aaron Altherr slugged a three run homerun in the fourth and it was enough to propel the NC Dinos to a 5-3 win in the opening salvo of the Korean Series against the defending champion Doosan Bears. The homerun was off the KBO top pitcher Raul Alcantara, who gave up four runs in just five innings of work.

Drew Rucinski pitched well through the first four innings. Sloppy fielding by the Dinos in the next two innings allowed the Bears to crawl back to within one run. An error by Park Suk-min with a runner on third scored the first run for the Bears. A catcher’s interference in the sixth let two runs in. A catcher’s interference put two runners on. Park Se-hyuk drove in one run with a double. A sacrifice fly by Kim Jae-ho pulled the Bears to within one.

The Bears added an insurance run in the 8th. Na Sung-bum, who was a perfect 4 for 4 led off the inning with a double. He eventually scored on a one out sacrifice fly by Park Suk-min. Five different Dino pitchers held the Bears scoreless through the last 3.2 innings, allowing just two hits and three walks.
