Yankees Sign Adonis Garcia

The Yankees signed Adonis Garcia to a $400,000 minor league contract.  That is probably a bit of a disappointment for him since he was looking for a much bigger pay day.  Myworld saw him play in the Series del Caribe this past February.  He is not a big guy listed at 5′9″ who won’t hit for tremendous power, so if he doesn’t make it as a centerfielder he will be nothing more than a fourth outfielder type.  He has decent speed and can cover ground in the outfield but the Yankees minor league system has a better and much younger center fielder in their system named Mason Williams.  With Curtis Granderson currently occupying the position I don’t know what would be left for the 26 year old Garcia.  In the long run the Yankees will get as much use from him as they got from Jorge Vazquez.
